Home Place Home Care Agency Provides Clients With Healthy Living Program
The local home care agency Home Place is looking to help seniors in new and improved ways.
Home Place is using its new program called the “Companion Diet” to improve the quality of life for seniors. The program promotes a healthy and nutritional lifestyle to residents while providing them with companionship. Instead, home client Mary Bates said, “When you’re alone you can feel lonely and here you have the company of caregivers and the friends you make. “
According to Chris Thompson, home care coordinator instead, the average senior skips four meals a week when they don’t have a companion to eat with.
Through the program, caregivers are able to ensure that their clients are kept company through games and conversations, and that they stay healthy through good nutrition. Thompson said, “This diet really promotes time with caregivers to spend time, talk about things, stories and share important events and really build relationships while cooking a healthy and nutritious meal.”
The organization also offers help to its clients with anything they might need as long as it is not medical. “We have CNAs, certified nursing assistants and home helpers who come to your house and they help you with activities of daily living like meal preparation, light housekeeping, medication reminders, personal care. , things like that.”
The Gulf Coast Home Place franchise has been in business for 19 years. Home caregiver Barbara Williams said, “It makes me feel like I’m giving back. It makes me feel like I’m still able to come home at night and know I’ve done something right for someone.
